life with alpha at morningside baptist church -
from wednesday 1st October 2008
Who is the course for?
The alpha course is for anyone! Some people come because they
want to investigate whether God exists and if there is any point
to life.
Some people come who have attended church on and
off but feel they have never really understood the basics of the
Christian faith.
People come from many different backgrounds, holding
many different viewpoints – but all come with the same objective:
to establish whether Jesus Christ has any real relevance for their
lives.
Where and when?
The course begins with an introductory evening on Wednesday 1st
October at 7.00pm. There will be food, live music, and an after
dinner talk by Karl Martin on “Is there more to life than
this?”
The course is held at morningside baptist church
(beside Luca’s ice cream shop at Holy Corner). The course
lasts for 10 weeks.
What happens?
After the meal each evening someone gives a talk. Some of the
titles are:
- Who is Jesus?
- Why did Jesus die?
- How can I be sure of my faith?
- Why and how do I pray?
The talks are practical and entertaining.
After the talk we break up into discussion groups.
Here we get to know people, and have an opportunity to think through
and discuss what has been said in the talk (and anything else
that is on our minds related to Christianity!). We usually finish
soon after 9.30pm.
