Just Christmas

It's a simple concept with a profound impact. We refocused on Christmas as God intended, stepped back and considered our own approach; we gave in fresh and relational ways; we cut down on our spending and instead shared with others who had nothing.

The different approach affected us all and together we gave over £100,000 in just two years. This enabled us to fund construction of two Dalit Education Centres in India and so partner with the oppressed Dalit people there. We also partnered in an innovative AIDs/HIV programme aimed at community transformation in Kenya by sponsoring students through their education.

This year we have partnered with OM India to support the cause of Dalit Education.

Our dream is to see more and more people here at home affected and so more and more lives in India impacted so let's dare to believe that together we can make a real and lasting difference.

NEW in 2010! Sponsor a dalit child

As part of our ongoing partnership with OM in India, we would like to encourage individuals and famies to consider sponsoring a child. For a monthly payment of £12, we can provide a dalit child in India with a school uniform, and education, and the opportunity to hear the gospel of Jesus. These schools are transforming whole communities and giving them a hope and a future. You will receive a photo of the child, regular updates as to how they are doing at school, and letters from the child. OM have had to put a hold on building further schools in India as they have such a shortage of sponsors, so there is an urgent need for this. For further information contact katie@mbc.org.uk. Buy one, give one

Our approach to Christmas is to buy one, give one. Every time we buy a Christmas present, attend a party or shop for Christmas food, we're aiming to give the same amount to our Just Christmas project. We hope to raise a significant amount of money to the projects MBC supports, especially the cause of the dalits in India.

This may mean we spend less on Christmas presents, in order to be able to afford to give more away. That's tough to do unless your friends and families understand why and are willing to receive smaller presents!

Maybe you can encourage friends and family to do something similar to us when they buy your Christmas present.
