Missional Expressions
Restore
Focused on the area of Tollcross, with a particular passion around issues of social justice, Restore is a long term commitment to one another and to the people and places of one of the key areas of our city. We guess that around half of the people in Edinburgh transit through Tollcross every month but very few ever stop to appreciate what is there. From law practices, banks and fund managers to strip clubs, pubs and theatres, from cinemas and hotels, to social housing and empty shops, Tollcross is a rapidly changing and needy area. We share a heart for those who are marginalised in society.
We're keen to be about bringing the Kingdom of God, restoring the places, people, systems and also recognising and encouraging the good that is in this part of our amazing city. We're focused around 3 themes in 2011: - BEING in Tollcross and being part of the community; MAKING it pretty- working to restore some of the physical beauty in Tollcross and ENGAGING the businesses of Tollcross back in the local community.
We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings - once a fortnight to study the bible, pray, eat (usually) and care for one another, and then the other Tuesday to take steps to work out the above vision. We'll soon be meeting once a month on Sundays also. If you want to find out more, please don't hesitate to ask, we'd be delighted to have you join with us. Come join with us!
'We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well because you had become so dear to us' - 1 Thessalonians 2:8
