Missional Expressions
Workplace
"Whatever you do , work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving." Colossians 3:23-24
'Christians in work spend more time in the workplace than in any other place. The workplace is, day in, day out, the one place where non-Christians can see the difference that being a Christian makes.' Mark Greene
"Preach the Gospel at all time, if necessary use words" St Francis of Assissi
Who is this for?
If you feel that God has put it on your heart to be a witness to those in your work place, then this missional expression is for you. We are a group of people from a variety of workplaces who together seek God's grace to enable and empower us to share the love of Jesus with our colleagues through both word and deed.
What does this look like?
Our ultimate goal is that God would be glorified as our colleagues come to know Christ as their Lord and Saviour. Relationships are a crucial context in which we can share the gospel with others and we recognise that building relationships in the work place can take time and perseverance. We also know that sharing God's love is not just about words, it's about getting alongside those in our work place and showing them love to transform the culture of our work environment; be it standing against office gossip or offering prayer for a colleague in need, we want to be the light of Christ in our work places.
We aim to support and encourage each other in this in a number of ways:
- Small group Bible study - each week we meet around the word of God, sharing a meal, learning from scripture and praying for one another
- Accountability and prayer. We greatly value prayer and aim to be accountable to each other both in weekly Bible study and specific prayer meetings.
- Social events - We meet as an ME in a variety of social occasions, these are a time where we can get to know each other better and alos invite our colleauges to meet other Christians.
